This is horrible. I don't care how downvoted I get, but this is one of the worst things a person could ever joke about. 9/11 is the worst tragedy to have ever occured on American soil, and the affects of that day still cut deep in many American's hearts, to take something as stupid and utterly not funny as Nyan Cat and use it to try and belittle and joke about this awful and tragic day is a true example of the things that can go wrong on the internet. I honestly have less respect for the person who posted it and those who find it amusing than I do for Casey Anthony. So honestly, go fuck yourself.

It's sad, you are absolutely right. I found this hilarious, and inspirational.

Why? Because people can laugh about this. It is a sign of healing. I read an artcile a few years ago, about a fire chief expressing his disgust at people not showing up for the memorial one year. He deeply saddened me on a personal level. He could not recognize that this was a sign of healing. The ability to move on and rebuild shattered lives. No one here is belittling what happened that day.

I respect your opinion. And I completely understand where you are coming from.

I think healing and forgiving is a lot better than bitterness and sadness, but I do not think a great sign of healing is to make fun of the tragedy. I do think I overreacted at this post yesterday, but I still stand by the fact that it isn't really a joking matter. A woman who has a miscarriage isn't going to joke about it with her friends years later by saying "I guess the baby hated me enough to kill himself before he came out!"

Also, I concur with your assessment on the fire chief. Yes he should recongize it as a sign of healing, but that is most likely because the families who lost some one would rather visit the graves than go to a huge service. (Just a guess, no proof). So overall, I do understand where you are coming from, I just still believe that this isn't a joking matter.

It's a perspective thing. Some people are able to look past something to a greater degree than others. There are in fact women who can laugh about a miscarriage, I have no doubt about that. Some people have different humor, some people like fried chicken, and some people can laugh things off.

Our funerals and wakes in my family tend to be fairly jovial. We celebrate life instead of death, and can laugh and enjoy ourselves when we need to. I will never forget any family member that died, or be sad that they aren't with us anymore, but I will remember what they lived for.

Like I said, it's a difference of opinion, and personalities. And I respect yours as well.

Laughing at the life the person lived rather than mourning their death. We do the same in our family.

As of such, I don't see this a tribute of hate but as a form of mourning.

Which is the exact reason why I've told everyone that I want "If you don't know me by now" by Seal played at my funeral. Those who know me well will get a laugh, and those who don't will be making delightfully confused and offended faces. >=D

Nyancat would never do this. It had to be Tacnayn.

Well July 7th was a pretty awful day in Britain and America belittled our tribute to it during the olympic opening ceremony by cutting to an interview because the tribute didn't pertain to them.

A pun is far less offensive than forgetting an event completely.

Many Americans probably haven't even heard of the July 7th bombings...

Yeah, Britain has moved on since then while the Americans still moan, and my uncles probably pissed, he was a survivor.

Sheesh people who are throwing a fit about this, it's no worse than making a titanic joke. When bad things happen we have to be able to look back and laugh in my opinion. It helps us get past it you know?

The titanic happened in 1912, literally 100 years ago. 9/11 happened in 2001, literally 11 years ago. The titanic was 3 generations ago, few people know someone actually lost to its sinking. I remember where I was, what I was doing, how I felt and how much life changed after that day for me personally. So no, its not the same, and yes, it is way worse than making a titanic joke. Too soon doesn't even begin to cover it. The holocaust was 70 years ago, and most people are comfortable making jokes about that yet either.

On average, humans live 80 years. 11years is a long time in that sense.

I'm not saying that it should ever be forgotten, but laughter is a sign of healing.

Comparing the Titanic to this is wrong, but so is comparing this to the Holocaust. The Holocaust was genocide, it so so different from anything like this, just like this, a terrorist attack, is completely different from an incompetent Captain who thought he could sail through an ice burg. Difference; Titanic is classed as a disaster, not an attack.

Naturally. (note sarcasm)

Being able to laugh about a disaster is the first step to recovering from it.

I'm going with this as the fact that Tiff is coming to terms with the point that it was devastating and shouldn't be forgotten, but neither should it rule your life. Yes, it was 11 years ago, but with regards to life; 11 years is a long time.

America does suck. We got financially ass raped. However, I respect everyone who died 'cept the terrorists. Its just a joke though. Note the description. I have a sick sense of humor. I'm able to get over it, because not only lives were lost that day, but also thousands of miracles took place. So relax girly. :]

I liked this ^^

In my defense(being european), I still have the penny(or 5ct I dont remember) I got pressed in those towers attached to my house keys. The penny already makes me sad, so why would I care about jokes on the internet?. Jokes are jokes people, get over it, why give a serious reaction to something entirely not serious?.
