I go against a lot of the norms of the place I live in. I live in an area which has a large amount of racism, sexism (misogynistic views), homophobic remarks, and filled, bluntly, with people only there to look after themselves. So, the majority of people I have to socialise with are rude, arrogant bastards, whom I share very few ideals with. There are people I know who aren't like this.
However, my opinions are generally anti-discrimative and that people should help each other. See, I base my opinions on facts I find, and my own moral compass.
I assume you come from a small town then, probably in the north?
In London it's so easy to avoid these people, so much so that I haven't met such bigots since I left school oh so long ago.

Nope, East Anglia. Norfolk, to be precise. I think it's because pretty much everyone is related to each other there, that "outsiders" generally aren't liked. Small town in the country syndrome.
London has a really big cultural mix in there. All cities do. And builders are just... builders lol
