Not quite. I got a modem finally. I'm up in the northeastern corner of Armenia. It looks like West Virginia, and we've got unfriendly neighbors (Azerbaijan). Life is good:)

What kind of internet speed do you have there?

Isn't Armenia known for it's brutal organized crime? How did you end up there? I thought you were in south america?

Internet's pretty slow. Difficult to watch YouTube clips or .gif files, but I can still hang with seeders and leachers, so I can't complain.

I don't know of much organized crime in this country--there's no port here, so we are more of a transit country for trafficked persons and goods. We're Tier 2 according to the TIPS report, but we've got much less of a problem than, say, Moldova. I specifically asked for not Latin America--I wouldn't need the language lessons if I went to Latin America, so I figured I'd let the government cover a third language for me.

Yeah, it's Peace Corps. I'm in the Teaching English as a Foreign Language program (in terms of technical skills and expectations, we're kind of the zurgs of PC), so I'll be working with a few teachers in a public school in my village to help add a little perspective to the English curriculum.

It's amazing how important of a "skill" English is these days. My old roommate is actually in Shanghai right now teaching English.

I'm glad to hear that you are getting to explore new territories, and that they aren't full of organized crime (I could have sworn armenia was where they cut off your hands and feet if you cross them or something 0.o)

I'll shoot you a message when it comes time to start testing stuff here. Should be only a few weeks so hopefully you'll still be up and running online then.
