kinda weird with money....you own the value of the bill not the bill it self. that paper is still considered government property so damaging it is damaging government property.

Defacing money is punishable with up to 10 years in prison. So putting a penny on a train track can cost you years of life locked up. (Though, it probably won't.)

Money is government property, or something like that. Which is why defacing it is illegal. If I remember right anyway.
