to bad that drops power as well so you crawl away while sounding like a douche.
no it doesnt. it increases it.
Not always. In this case, since the last stage mufflers are being removed, it probably does increase power.(though the increase is negligible). But people who remove their entire exhaust systems significantly decrease their power output
The restricted exit for exhaust causes back pressure which is important in the vast majority of consumer cars, even mustangs like above. No back pressure means that in the small time when the intake and exhaust valves are simultaneously open will cause unburnt fuel to leak into your exhaust system which can cause backfires and damage your catalytic converter. Don't do it. You sound like a douche, you don't pass emissions, fuel economy gets worse, you sound like a douche, the increase in power is negligible, the risk of damage to your car is there, and you sound like a douche.
Don't want to nit pick, but technically back pressure is never, ever a good thing in any car.
What you're referring to is Delta Pressure, which aids in the speed of exhaust gas evacuation. Exhaust gas leaves the engine in pulses, as each pulse of gas flies down the exhaust pipe it creates a vacuum behind it, which helps pull the next pulse along, getting the gas out faster. If the exhaust pipe diameter is not correct, either by fitting an oversized pipe or by removing a muffler, then this effect is ruined and performance is lost.
But yes, you sound and look a douche regardless ;)
"While the contemporary exhaust system may increase the level of strain on both the local economy and the global environment by requiring an increase in the purchase, consumption and venting of hydrocarbon fuel and its carbon dioxide byproduct, most automobile saturated societies see this as an acceptable and necessary trade-off. Although the exhaust system indirectly requires more fuel and that releases more CO2 pollution into the upper atmosphere, the catalytic converter greatly reduces the heavier chemical byproducts produced by the engine that would otherwise remain much closer to the ground and disperse much more slowly causing a local pollution known as smog and with out mufflers, any area that is heavily trafficked by motor vehicles would become a highly dangerous environment for any people and perhaps animals as well who were not utilizing professional hearing protection."
Not quite sure what that has to do with back-pressure... but if you're implying that catalytic converters and mufflers are good things, then I agree.
Either way, anyone who does this must be compensating for their extremely tiny dick
