Top 10 Reasons for Banning Gay Marriage

Amendment 1 passed in NC. Let me guess how constitutional it wasn't.

This is one of the first times I'm actually ashamed to live in North Carolina.
Don't be. North Carolina is the fuel the movement needs to officially take the issue to court. States, more and more, have been legalizing gay marriage to line up their protest, and the ACLU and several other organizations are geared with some of the best lawyers in the nation to attack this much in the same way the NAACP got separate but equal facilities outlawed in Brown v Board of Education. Sure, it's a dark spot, but look at Virginia. We were the site of some the most horrendous Civil Rights violations in American history, and now we're turning into a purple state that's even begun research on the possible benefits of legalizing marijuana on the economy. Never be ashamed of your origin when there's a chance for reform. :D
I upvoted after reading the first point.
It's still an issue in the UK too. It's ridiculous and out of date to suggest that homosexual marriages make heterosexual marriages pointless.
Is there an actual point to marriage at all? You can have babies without being married, so what exactly do you need to get married for now?
I see it as a way to express the fact that you want to be with THAT person for the rest of both your lives. What does it matter if you're different sexes or not?
I agree with you completely. In America everyone is equal regardless of race, sex, religion, and sexual orientation. Now if we were as equal in every way as we say we are,gay marriage would be legal, right? Our president(Obama)appears to be leaning towards gay marriage now.But for the last five years or so,he has been against it.A lot of us think that he is doing it solely for electoral purposes, but who knows?I have many gay family members that want to get married but they can't because not everybody is equal in the US. This is something that is going to be long drawn out and painful for many people. Hopefully they will just get over it and legalize gay marriage and realize that it is a war that they cannot win(they being all the people against it).
I think it's going to be a long progress. It's completely on a different scale of issue in the UK than it is in the US. I whinge about it, but the States have it so much worse than we do.
The fact is, Blacks and women have had equal rights in America for around half a century, yet discrimination towards them is still strife. Homosexuality was only legalised about 20 years ago; I'm afraid if people are still happy to judge someone by their gender or race after all that time then they're not going to shift quickly on this aspect either.
Which is sad.
(Note: I know that pretty much all the Americans on here don't give two fucks about your race, gender or sexuality. In fact, most people on here don't. I'm just saying on a whole, it's still an issue in America).
It is. I agree whole-heartedly with you Nixie. Lots of prejudice where I live, and sadly, I'm part of it. College made me a bit less forgiving of other races, if only because of how the small portion I've been exposed to has acted around me. It's sad, but we need more people from both ends of the spectrum on board, and I think gays will get there before a lot of other parts of society.
I get you, it's hard to feel kindly towards another race if your only experience is them being idiots.
Yes, it is and I am really getting sick of it.It's the main reason I'm moving to Canada.I'm not saying Canada doesn't have it's flaws, but the Canadians are way less picky about things like this. And their government is no where near as corrupt as the US'.
Well, hate speech or anything similar is an arrestable offence in Canada.
And they're generally polite people, from my experience. More so than the average American or Brit.
I come to the Lolbrary to LOL!!!!!
Then do it. Shit be funny 'cause it's mocking stupid people.
Regarding Non-Humorous Submissions
While submissions should generally be humorous in nature, this is a community first. Don't be afraid to submit text posts that aren't necessarily "jokes" or of humorous nature etc if you just want to address the overall community. Additionally, don't be afraid to submit images or links that aren't necessarily funny if you believe they would be of interest to the community.
not funny, take your lame gay politics somewhere else
It is funny and it isn't lame. Take your bitching somewhere else.
Sometimes I just want to start standing next to people for No. 2... Feeling gay yet? How about now?
"Homosexuality is a choice!"
"Well, could you choose it for an hour or two 'cause I'm starting to get an itch."
Feh... For some people it is... And not the... "Well no one would choose to live this way with all the shit going on about it..." Really? It's called being interested in someone of the same sex. It has nothing to do with living gay it has to do with a guy wanting to date a guy for the sake of 'that guy'
For the record, I'm pro gay marriage, but there are no orphanages in America, and there is a shortage of children (more couples want to adopt than there are unwanted children in the US). The rest of the world is a different story. And there is some evidence that suggests that it is healthier to have a male and a female parent for a child's emotional development.
Actually there is some evidence to suggest kids do best with lesbian parents. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1994480,00.html
I'd do best with your lesbian parents. Slam!
Wait.. that didn't really make a lot of sense did it...
Women are more likely to meet the emotional needs of the child, and having two doubles that.

Looks like a google image search result attempt.
Had to edit my comment to add that I laughed my ass off from that pic you linked to.

Get Deathdark! Deathdark helped me with my internet retardedness!
Forget Britney Spears! What about all the politicians who have had affairs and divorces? That list is a LOOOOONG one.
7 is hilarious. I've never thought about it like that, yet it's so simple
The way I look at it is, if someone wants to be happy, let them. Unnatural or not, its their way of being themselves. Same way a channel gets banned on TV, some people find it offensive, some people don't mind. If you don't like gays, don't pay attention to them.
Not sure if it was part of the sarcasm, but being gay is actually natural. 200+ species of animals have gay males or females too. The only kind of mammal making this a problem: Humans.
i was wondering when something like this would get posted. i agree with it all, and i'm glad that most people can see the unconstitutionality of this action. but then again, i don't believe right and wrong exist at all, so my opinion is probably meaningless. but i commented to show support! :D
Editing my comment to link to a nice article on the topic
Huh... who would've thought people were actually this dumb?
That is so fucked up. . . It makes me ill. . . To think that people I don't even know think this about me and people like me. . . .yeah, I know that happens to a lot of people, but damn. Fuck people that think that way.
Then, of course, there would be the eminently saner reasons in Peter Sprigg's online article "The Top Ten Harms of Same Sex "Marriage" ( http://downloads.frc.org/EF/EF11B30.pdf ). It's so humourous it will get you stone cold sober in a hurry ...
Thank you sir for linking that online article. It is in fact only some of the reasons why same sex marriages should not be legal. Keep the homosexuals out of the streets and out of my pockets thank you!
Statistics show that gays are more successful, make more money, and this pay more taxes that subsidize your mortgage, your children, your public schooling, etc. So why don't you get out of our pockets?
Point 10 is a funny one. Exactly how well have we all adapted to the service-sector economy or longer lifespans? Difficulty adapting to new social norms is precisely the impulse behind conservatism. As well as prejudice, this is why many people are against gay marriage (not me, but I think it's important to understand); because they view it as part of a pattern of common institutions being carelessly messed with by an elite.
Love is Love, weather it be between man and man, man and Woman, or woman and woman. and love is something that is lacking in our world. fuck you
