Pfft. Evolution is supposed to help us adapt to our environment. We don't adapt to our environment, we rape the environment to adapt for us.

People suck.

Hence why we are at the top of the food chain. We are masters of the universe.

Probably not.

Simply comparing the size of the universe to the probability of life originating, we can say there must be life elsewhere.

Then, observing our planet, we see that life started pretty quickly after the earth stabilized, so even if the evolutionary chain is identical, other chains can be thousands of years ahead or behind us easy.

But the chain wouldn't be identical due to environmental factors causing different variations and starting points.

Coincidence mainly. He said things that got my attention, so I responded.

I do this to him on facebook, too.

Granted. I have the same belief. It just makes me wonder so much what other advanced intelligent life exists out there.

This is no belief, mind you, it's an inevitability.

I understand what you are saying. but people believe in a lot of things that they also think is inevitable. Like the whole 2012 shit for example. Therefore, no matter if it is true or not, it is still a belief.

That's like saying I believe 1 + 1 = 2. My belief or lack of belief has no merit on the situation, so I instead know or understand 1 + 1 = 2 rather than believe it. Believing takes faith. Knowing takes evidence.

we are masters of destroying our planet, and ourselves.

Except when you run into an animal in the wild. Google "deer attacks" and be very afraid.

We need natural predators.

I'd say that put us in a fight with any of the big wildlife animals (elephants, lions, tigers etc), we'd lose.

You'd think so, but you'd be wrong. You see, man is not simply what his physical body is. We are the fastest creatures on earth because we can easily break the sound barrier. We are the strongest animals on earth because we can lift the most weight. We are the most dangerous animals on earth because we can destroy the surface of the planet itself, if not the planet along with it.

Humans are their bodies and their inventions. It's our science and engineering that allows us to be the greatest of the animals such that what once was our natural predators can be subdued and easily destroyed.

Yes, but lions, elephants, hippos, monkeys etc still kill humans who are armed with weapons and such.

We may have all these things, but we're still very weak creatures with poor senses. We have to have technology with us in order to be superior to other creatures but even with them we can still lose. We are not a creature that is naturally designed to kill.

We cannot. Individuals of our specie can. If elephants became an issue, we could just remove Africa.

WOW really? My teacher used to say it all the time in class explaining we humans even though physically quite weak are at the top of the food chain

When we were doing the food chains, we rarely touched on humans as part of it. There were mixed opinions on if humans were the top of the food chain or not so it would just cause arguments.

However, my teacher would say "Human's brain is far more powerful than any muscle"

We'll get stronger ones soon- so many frozen microbes in the ice caps, so little time before they melt and we find out which ones can hurt or kill us.

Actually, they only get weaker and weaker because we have technology and tools to do all the work. If you tried to take on a neanderthal you would be dinner.
