I wasn't bragging at all? You don't have to be intelligent to watch a Stephen Hawking documentary.. that's the point of him making them, so that complex scientific theories can be explained in, what are essentially, layman's terms.

Well, seeing as you don't contribute to the Lolbrary community, of which I like to think of myself as at least a respected member, then what right do you have to tell me what I can and cannot post on this site? If you're only an infrequent, or not particularly avid, spectator in your own description, then surely you wouldn't be so distressed in what I've posted and would simply click the next button? I think it's a little much to accuse me of bragging.
I actually do contribute. For one I'm the reason there's still "The Big Archive," so that we can search for past posts based on title, not date, among other suggestions they've taken for the site for better use/enjoyment. I'm sorry I don't contribute in the sense of posting meme comics of myself watching youtube videos. I recognize your name and I've seen your other stuff before, a lot of it is very good. However, this might be the most boring post on the site. It's not bad or stupid necessarily, just very a really drawn out way of posting an uninteresting Stephen Hawking quote. I don't sit in front of a computer all day posting and commenting because I've got other shit to do, but I do look at every new post everyday and I'm fairly certain I've seen 99.99999% of all the posts on this site. Also, let's be honest, most of the content posted on here is not original and existed elsewhere on the internet first. Often someone has posted the latest crop of funny images before I get a chance to contribute. The guys sitting in their mother's basement at 4am on a computer beat me to the punch usually. You should probably respect the fact that I concede this and am not a serial reposter (I'm not accusing you of that, the most heinous of lolbrary crimes, fit for capital punishment). Whether I'm someone who posts 10 items a day or just a first time user, I still know what's funny and this wasn't. I mean, it's called the LOLbrary, not the Post-One-of-the-Least-Interesting-Things-Stephen-Hawking-Ever-Saidbrary.
I have 87 upvotes that beg to differ that this post is not interesting/is boring/is not funny. I don't even contribute that much compared to most Lolbrarians in posts, but I comment on a regular basis. For example Meadock posts everyday (at least he tries to) and he's become well known for reposting material, but the Lolbrary community doesn't slate him for it, they make a joke out of it. Meadock's a welcome member of the community.
Onto the "it's called the LOLbrary, not the Post-One-of-the-Least-Interesting-Things-Stephen-Hawking-Ever-Saidbrary" point. Again, there are plenty of fellow Lolbrarians who would, and have, disagreed with you. Just because you did not find it interesting or funny, doesn't mean everyone shares your viewpoint. I wouldn't have posted it if I personally didn't think it was suitable for the site, and it seems that people have enjoyed the post on the whole, finding it interesting and/or amusing. You may also find that a lot of Lolbrarians also post interesting material as well as amusing material. If it wasn't suitably interesting or amusing, then it would have gained a negative vote balance and would probably have been removed by billmalarky.

1) The reposting thing was a joke, something that comes up a lot and was a hot topic on here not too long ago. I'm well aware of meadcock and don't actually wish him put to death. Perhaps I should've included "lol" or ":P"
2) Yes, I didn't find it funny or interesting and I can comment if I want to. I don't need to have 1000 posts on here to comment that something wasn't funny or interesting. Not that I'm saying all 72 votes fall under this category, but you probably get a decent amount of votes just from being known on here. I think you've scored a lot better in other posts? The prior comments to this stand off were mostly giving you shit for saying you watched a documentary on youtube, not saying how awesome it is.
3) There are a lot of things that are "interesting," but not necessarily funny on here, and often they're pretty damn cool. This wasn't, in my opinion (that better???)
4) It wasn't an offensive/gratuitous post, so it wouldn't be taken down.
5) I think you're taking way too much offense to a sarcastic comment on a site for humor.
1) The Meadock reference wasn't about the repost thing you said, it was about the community, it just so happened that Meadock was known on the community for reposts.
2) I didn't say you needed posts to comment, only that you're not the governing body of what should and shouldn't be on the site, so there's not much point in telling me what I should/n't post. This is actually one of my most upvoted posts, I usually get an average of 60-70 or so (can't be bothered to work it out now). Prior comments to this "stand off"? Well, one comment was a sly joke about me watching the documentary, so that's only one criticism. One other was about pokemon, one was actually supporting YouTube as a source for education and the others weren't criticising the post, only mentioning that they didn't respect Hawking that much. Granted they weren't wooping for joy over it, but some posts don't even get comments.
3) Yeah, that's fine, that's what I was saying. It's fine to not like it, just a bit out of order to make personal accusations about me bragging, even if it is only over the internet.

We joke around, throw a few insults around now and again, but as Decave said; hater comments "really need to say some funny shit to pull it off". 2) No. Someone's right to comment doesn't come up just because they commented. I'm bored a lot, I work in an office. My point was more I don't pay attention enough usually to comment and post a lot. I mostly just have this site open and browse through it during the day. I usually save comments for posts I like or dislike very much. That being said, today's gone by a lot quicker with these replies...
3) If you're voluntarily watching a documentary on Stephen Hawking, you're probably not a stupid person. It usually takes some intelligence to be interested in astrophysics (especially to listen to that creepy computer voice). I'm saying it seemed that way, maybe the original comment seemed like an accusation, but it was only a couple sentences. It was a sarcastic way of saying "I don't like this post."

2) It's exercising your right to comment. Well this is exactly my point, you don't usually comment and/or post a lot, so there really wasn't much point in you doing so now. It added nothing to the post or the community. It's only a personal suggestion that you should be a little more constructive. Approval is primarily measured by votes here, and the community does not seem to be approving of your comments, therefore it is fair for me to respond to your comment, especially if it's directed at me personally.

3) If even one person finds something funny, then it is funny. It has to be amusing to amuse someone, and this post has obviously amused or interested people, hence the upvotes. As to the intelligence point, you brought up intelligence in your third point from your previous comment, it was a response to that.

Again, it was just a sarcastic way of saying "I don't like this." I don't know if I'd agree with if one person finds it funny, then it's funny. Sometimes there are posts on here that surprise us with the amount of up votes it gets and others that surprise us with the amount of down votes. I just don't see how that quote makes him a "bad ass" I guess was my original gripe. A pretty good Louis CK bit comes to mind about the words we use to describe things and how they're actually an offensive level of exaggeration... like when you describe some chicken fingers you get at a diner at 2am as "awesome." Are they really "awe-some," to they really inspire awe? What if Jesus Christ just came down to Earth, what would you say? You've already wasted awesome on chicken fingers.
