"I'm a bad test taker"

I'm going to have to disagree. Sometime's it's a confidence thing, or they just choke. It doesn't have to be a presentation or something to get really nervous.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again.

Confidence is everything. It's why idiots often succeed in the real world because smart people are too aware of their own weaknesses so they don't even try. The trick is to be really smart. Smart enough to know that even if you aren't perfect you will fail if you don't try. Smart enough to know that looking like a fool isn't as bad as playing it safe and thus living a coward's life.

Even so I think this is a daily struggle for a lot of intelligent people.

Agreed. I tutor for two different agencies, and I've had several kids who work hard enough to topple governments and declare themselves dictators but probably won't get any scholarships for their ACT scores.

You lose a lot of credibility when you refuse (out of laziness or some other strange reason) to write out "you're"... Especially when those you are contradicting are factually correct. Out astro-weasel has it pinned, in my schooling days I saw some fantastically intelligent people fail tests. I was always the guy whose tests kept his grades up because he did absolutely nothing else, I like to think that gave me more time to observe and ponder the whole situation.

As my psychology teacher said; "Exams do not tell you how intelligent you are, but how well you can remember things."

As it stands, I panic in exams and forget to explain myself properly. My psychology teacher actually got quite frustrated by it, cause in class I was getting As, but as soon as she stuck an exam paper in front of me I was getting Ds if lucky.

Regarding "masterpiece in mind, Parkinson's in hand" bit. I pretty much have to sneak up on my hands when doing something detailed. The more pressure I put on myself to do a bit of detailing, the more they shake. It's rather bad, cause I sew so results in plenty of bloody fingers. So no, my artwork is unlikely to ever be as good as it is in my head, cause my hands spaz.

I have intense precision and control drawing on paper, but when I draw with a tablet on a computer, that all goes out the fricken' door. I feel like a kindergartener using their left hand.

XD im actually left handed and i couldnt aggree with you more, you have to relearn fucking everything. after 5 years youll be a pro though. im almost a year experience.

It's funny, but wrong. Some people are genuinely bad test takers, due to lack of confidence or a sudden loss of memory due to panic or pressure to do well. Pressure strongly affects my performance.

I do the worst on math exams, but I do fine pre-exam. I understand the problems and how to solve them, but when it gets to the test I panic and I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm biased but I think you need to be to understand. You can only understand from my point of view.

It's just a joke. 99% of what comedians say is bullshit but it is relatable and funny.

I really hate when people take life advice from comedians. Don't get me wrong, I love comedians, but most of them don't even have their own lives together (most struggle with drug use and heavy depression) so I wouldn't exactly call them great role models.

If you can't perform under pressure, you can't perform period. When you get out in the real world in a job interview/etc., i doubt people are going to be gracious and sympathize with your inability to perform in the clutch.

Not true, I can't perform under pressure and I also become a nervous wreck when meeting new people that I have to make a good impression with.

However, I have yet to be turned down after an interview.

No, I feel loads of pressure, and stammer and stutter my way through it. Somehow, I get hired though.

Eh, my grades are all average (Cs) with two Bs in it. But when I did some "mentoring" (basically, open to everyone who wanted to learn about getting a job), I was told companies hire people with confidence. I don't have confidence, I'm stupidly shy in person and I don't really like meeting new peeps IRL. Much prefer the internet world lol
