right?! i mean, if the weapons are missed, how do they know that they missed them?
there was a study on xray technicians that showed that because they are looking at the same things over and over again they miss what they are actually looking for...
Occasionally they do tests to see how well the TSA is doing. I assume that's where the statistics come from. The government WASTES so much money on things. It's a shame there's apparently no way to make anything the government does run efficiently.
I got stopped once waiting for my laptop bag to come out of the scanner. The guy goes, oh never mind, it's the bag after yours with the hand grenade.
I'm like WTF!? And ready to run... it was a known .. I don't know what they're called... mystery shopper? with a fake grenade in her bag.

Also, if you use google, it is clear that there are many incidents like this. If anything I believe the stated number is a bit low.
that does not say that 7 out of 10 things go undetected. i read that too, and still dont see where they got that number. so im assuming its just made up.

If you don't like the TSA, and I'm not a fan either, that's fine. Complaining about being put through annoying security checks is ridiculous though, as the purpose, while not necessarily being achieved, is to prevent another 9/11.

So it's ridiculous to complain about invasive searches that border on molestation and don't work; because supposedly their hearts are in the right place (even if their hands are not)? Oh.

As a frequent flyer to the US from Europe I don't exactly enjoy the security screenings but to those who want them gone, what measures do YOU suggest are taken to best ensure our safety? :( I don't think there is much way around things like this, unfortunately.
