Chicken sits on wrong eggs

Awe--the chicken is the ducklings' mommy :)

It works way better to have a good sitting chicken hatch duck eggs than the other way around. Ducks that raise chicks tend to drown them by trying to get them to swim. As it happens, chicks don't float.

...as my uncle discovered one Easter.

I raised some ducklings whose parents had been killed before they hatched, we had a broody chicken hatch them and they kept biting at her wattle and comb! It works out pretty well until the ducklings start wanting to go in the water, since chickens can't swim the hen gets all freaked out, like she's trying to raise good chickens and they are jumping in the freaking pond, she's all OMG OMG NOOO and can't go after them or anything, lol her initial distress aside it's kind of funny.
