Luckily cats have 9 lives. Just heard about one in the news who lost one of them. The dang thing fell from the 19th floor of an apartment building and just happened to land on a soft spot in some bushes surrounded by concrete. Walked away with a few scratches. Like a boss dude.

a cat can jump from any height and survive (not get hurt either) they have a nonlethal terminal velocity

Not true.

Between 5 floors up and it'll kill that cat. Any more than that and they're fine because they put their arms out and use the loose skin they have to act similar to a glider.

I'm sure there are plenty of factors to take into consideration--but a good healthy cat can survive an incredibly high fall--even if it does break it's legs in the process

"With their righting reflex, cats often land uninjured. However, this is not always the case, since cats can still break bones or die from extreme falls. In a 1987 study, published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, of 132 cats that were brought into the New York Animal Medical Center after having fallen from buildings, it was found that the injuries per cat increased depending on the height fallen up to seven stories but decreased above seven stories.[8] The study authors speculated that after falling five stories the cats reached terminal velocity and thereafter relaxed and spread their bodies to increase drag." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_righting_reflex#Injury

Interesting 8-)

there was a cat that fell out of a huge tree and landed on the ground then just took off running like nothing happened.
