I'm merely saying that taken out of context anything can seem stupid. We do not know his situation with his wife; she could be a serial killer for all we know.

There have been a lot more on here that have been a lot lot more worse than this one - the Christian who was pregnant but still went out drinking and partying and saying really nasty stuff about wanting someone to punch her in the stomach so she'd miscarriage springs to mind

Yeee. I'm with Nixie on this one. It's not uncommon for a man going through a divorce to seek solace in a close friend. Feelings naturally could have evolved over the course of a long divorce. Can't get pissy with a girl for falling for a legally separated man!

If the divorce is not final then he is not "legally separated". That is the entire purpose of a divorce.

Legal separation is entirely different from divorce. One can not get divorced until legally separated.

In my mind, you still should not ask someone else to marry you before you are even legally divorced. Out of respect for myself I'd say "You need to wait until we can actually get married before you ask me." But maybe I just have high standards. His current wife might be a cheater, murderer, whatever but finish one part of your life before you start the next.
