Hi, I'm Austin. Here are a few ideas I've had for improving the site and its content. If you like them vote up, if you don't vote down. Either way, add to this list in the comments.
- Automatic dupe check. If 4chan can do this with all of its submissions, I think lolbrary can afford the CPU power to do this, and if nothing else, just do a check within the last month of content to save CPU.
- Hide negative-trending submissions on the "Fresh" page. I'd say once a submission has a score of -25, it should be hidden. Have the server check these scores every minute or so. Also create an option to unhide them (you know, for people who like shitty content).
That's it for what I think are absolute necessities. This last one could just be considered and debated.
- User classes. Users who have an average submission-rating of 100 or higher can be given a little star next to their name / submission and maybe even filters for only super-users' content.
I'll add more as I think about it. Thanks for the website, it's one of my favorites!

1.2 Users who have an average submission rating of less than -50 (if they had a minimum number of posts) could have their posting privileges revoked for a week or so.
It seems you're new here.
billmalarky is currently working on resolving the duplication issue. For now, user moderation is the tactic of handling a repost.
Just because something scores low doesn't mean it won't recover. There are images with 400+ rating. If a -25 image gets that much, it'll be a +350 image. Also, there's a user named Uncle Outhouse who intentionally makes bad OC and posts it, but he's a lolbrary celebrity for it.
I don't post much content, but I know the content of the site very well. What class would i go in. Meadock is a hit-and-miss user with his uploads, but he's been here a while now and is a constant contributor. What do we do with him?
1.2 Again Outhouse or Meadock on a bad/repost streak.
I want to see an example of an image that ever had a -50 score that "recovered" to 325.
I mean it may have a score of -28 and a score of +191 but its actual score is 166
I'm saying that I saw it hit -28 at one point. Actually that one went lower because someone had to explain how to actually view it before people read it, and even then people like me tl;dr'd. It may not be the 325 you asked for, but considering a score of 200-250 is a "common high rating", I think 163 works.
Well shit...it really has been like a week since I've posted anything really good. My sources are being lame...that's my excuse.
You and I both know you repost a lot, or at least your sources have given you things already up. We can also both observe the ratings on your submissions. I've got nothing against you or Uncle, but the only other person I know that gets negatives regularly is native-babe, but she hasn't done anything to redeem herself, unlike the two of you.
Just dropping in to say don't let things get too hotheaded guys. You two are some of the first users so you have to set a good example here!

Why bother? Majority hates these ideas, so you might as well keep it the way it is.
I think the 2nd idea is really important, at first glance people might not like it, but I think if it was implemented correctly people would love it (that way if you're browsing through the old posts you never have to see the crappy ones).
I just want to tell you, good luck, we're all counting on you. Also, this is a duplicate comment bill!
I posted it as a reply to both meadock and deathdark since it was directed towards them (I wanted them both to get a notification).
It's to make sure we both got a notification.
So if this passed you would lose your posting rights for what -139 score so ever?
No offense but I never read these. lol
some people never post anything, like me I just like to comment
Austin:
First of all, just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions (sorry people are downvoting but they are just impatient for lols ;-P).
Some responses for you:

I'm actively working on this issue right now. There are several methods that check against duplicates, and they are all very possible (4chan's method of hashing files and then checking against the hash is an option that we've used in the past, but has its own issues). However, I'm actually working on a bit of a site design idea that aims to solve the issue at its root, as opposed to addressing the symptoms. I'm sorry I can't tell you more, but please keep in mind that it is being worked on.

This is a great idea that is actually on my todo list right now. What I'm going to do is hide all negative scoring content after 24 hours has passed since it has been posted. The content will still remain on the server (if you go to someone's profile you will still be able to see it) but it will be pulled out of the "rotation" so to speak, that is, users won't stumble across it unless they are looking for it). Additionally, I may pull content out if it hits like -25 before 24 hours has passed.
This is actually what I am going to work on next. So hopefully I'll be able to roll it out in the next few days.
Again, thanks for your input. I really do take suggestions seriously, just ask jay :-)
Haha, I really don't mind the current system of "If you don't like the current picture, click to instantly see a different one, and if you don't like that one either, click again" but hey, that's just me. For real though, these are solid ideas.
LOLBRARIANS, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!! :D
