Why it's not a real disease it's kids who can't pay attention, it's not like cancer. Lol probably has more to do with a diet of sugar and garbage than an actual neurological dysfunction, parents just like it getting diagnosed so thy can think its not their fault their kid gets bad grades.

My brother was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. It turned out that he was just a really annoying twat-like little shit.

I agree to you to some degree, that a lot of parents are quick to slap a label on their kid to say why they're bad and it's not down to their parenting or anything.

Some kids though really are bad when they're younger. My little brother was a complete little sh*t when he was 9 and under. Nothing which my dad and step-mum (note, my step-mum was his mum) did would work. They did the naughty step, he wasn't allowed any food with excessive sugar, no sweets, no crappy foods etc etc. They even tried replacing dairy products as that can sometimes cause issues with young kids. I think a mixture of him getting older and then realising how good he was at sports resulting in him becoming a lot less hyperactive.

His grades are still a bit rubbish though. And you can't blame Dad and my step-mum for it, cause my sisters and I all got rather good grades and our mum did very little to help us with our homework - my dad and step-mum were the ones who taught me how to read and write.

So yes, some parents are very quick to go "my kid has a problem! It's not my fault!" and sometimes that is the case. Most the time it isn't.

Sorry for the essay...

Exercise is important, kids wouldn't be so hyperactive if instead of playing video games they got off their ass and worked out. Not saying video games are bad, just can't replace physical activity. Diet and exercise pretty much eliminate "ADHD" in like 99% of cases.

I do actually know a kid with ADHD, he's pretty messed up, so there are legitimate cases, though i agree many if not most diagnoses are unwarranted.

Wow... apparently we have a bunch of experts in child psychology and development on here! Some of the smartest individuals I know have ADD. It is almost impossible for them to keep focused on the task at hand. There are different forms of ADHD/ADD. And yes, it is definitely over-diagnosed; however, there are many children out there that are ADHD/ADD. Not all kids with the condition have hyperactivity. Some only have inattentiveness. Also, not all respond well to medicine. Sometimes it's just something they have to learn to live with.
